Pembina Valley Conservation District (PVCD)

Pembina Valley Conservation District MapThe PVCD was formed in 1989. It covers an area of approximately 4,270 km2 (1,649 miles2) and is situated along the international boundary. The area includes the Pembina Valley, Tiger Hills, Red River Valley and Pembina Escarpment. Rural Municipalities included in the District are Lorne, Thompson, Roblin, Louise, Stanley and Pembina. Towns included in the District are Pilot Mound and Manitou, in addition to the Village of Crystal City. The District’s focus is on conservation farming and water management. Some projects include small water retention structure development, forage seed assistance, grassed runway construction, bank stabilization, public education and wildlife habitat preservation.
