Groundwater Project Requirements
Prior to construction of any works relative to your project you must contact the Water Licensing Branch directly at 945-6474 for requirements specific to your situation.
Requirements for a groundwater source project may include the following:
- retaining the services of a Hydrogeologist registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of Manitoba (APEGM) to conduct a well inventory of the area, oversee drilling and pump testing, and to submit those results in report form to the Water Licensing Branch
- sketch plan of location of proposed well(s) and any associated pipeline(s), including measurements relative to two property lines
- amount of water required daily and annually
- number of hectares irrigated, including crop types and rotation plans
- type and number of animals
- proof of legal ownership/access to all lands affected by project, including any proposed pipeline routes
- copy of municipal conditional use permit
- copy of authorization issued under The Water Resources Administration
- copy of Environment Act Licence
- type of metering equipment
- any other information that may be specific to the project
Any possible future license that might be issued for your project would be subject to withdrawals that do not adversely affect the aquifer or significantly interfere with other existing users. A licensing decision on your project will be held pending submission of the required information.
