Trade Designation Process

The process for designation of a new trade in Manitoba originates with industry making a formal request to the Apprenticeship and Certification Board. Any representative group within an industry can submit an application for designation of a trade. All application must include detailed information on key aspects of the proposed trade and the supporting industry.

The Apprenticeship and Certification Board considers designation requests for certified occupations for occupations that do not fit the trades model. Designated occupations are intended to be flexible by including a wide variety of occupations where provincial certification is provided as part of the program completion.
