Agri-Industry Development and Advancement Division
The Agri-Industry Development and Advancement division provides technical support, leadership, specialized services and information to enhance the development of Manitoba's agri-food industry and rural economy. The Division develops leading-edge, science-based programming in specialized areas of crop and livestock production, animal health, animal welfare, food safety and environmental sustainability. The divison also provides advice that assures food safety and controls and prevents crop and livestock diseases.
Mandate Livestock Industry - advances Manitoba’s livestock industry by utilizing leadership capacity and technical expertise to develop and deliver innovative extension and industry development programs. Leadership role in provincial strategies that advance livestock and forage sectors.The branch provides leadership and advice on livestock issues and represent Manitoba in regional and national discussions.
Chief Veterinary Office / Food Safety
Mandate Chief Veterinary Office/ Food Safety - provides leadership and advice on animal health, animal welfare and food safety issues. Provides the regulatory and enforcement framework to protect human, animal and plant health.
Mandate Crop Industry - provides critical intelligence and recommendations on a range of issues pertaining to efficient production, processing and marketing of crops suited for production in Manitoba. Leadership role in provincial strategies that advance crop and apiculture sectors.
Mandate Agri-Resource - provides leadership and advice on agri-environmental issues. Develops programs, policies, regulation and extension to facilitate the sustainable use and protection of Manitoba's agro-ecosystem. Key role in on-farm water management, agri-water initiatives, private and public land use planning, soil survey, and weather/climate information.
