Food Development Centre

The Food Development Centre (FDC) is an internationally recognized centre of excellence for bringing new and innovative products to market. Its work encourages greater use of Manitoba food ingredients and the dynamic growth of Manitoba's agri-food processing industry.

Through FDC, anyone with a great idea can access world-class expertise, pilot plant facilities and research on a fee-for-service basis. Clients range from first-time entrepreneurs to global corporations.

FDC is an important link in the public/private research infrastructure supporting economic development in Manitoba. It is a key member of the Manitoba Agri-Health Research Network (MAHRN), a cluster of world-class facilities focused on functional foods and nutraceuticals for disease prevention. Through a strategic partnership with the Canadian International Grains Institute (CIGI), FDC shares training, equipment and expertise to benefit the agrifood industry.

FDC is a non-profit special operating agency under the authority of Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives.
