Crop Diagnostic School

 

The Crop Diagnostic School is designed to refine the diagnostic skills of agronomists and producers involved in field scouting and assessing crop health. This event is organized by Manitoba Agriculture and Resource Development (MB ARD) and the University of Manitoba (U of M).
 
CCA Credit will be offered in areas of Nutrient Management, Soil and Water Management, Integrated Pest Management and Crop Management. Certified Crop Science Consultant (CCSC) CEU also offered.
 
The Manitoba Crop Diagnostic School has been running since 1996 with approximately 400 - 500 people attending each year. This comprehensive hands-on approach to learning attracts new and past attendees to take part each year.
In 2020, Crop Diagnostic School will be offered as a virtual learning experience. Join us for this unique learning opportunity to help you scout fields and recognize potential problems. You will also get an update on the latest crop management issues. We will have you working live with our diagnostic specialist to assess, scout and identifying issues, while giving you a non-biased whole-perspective approach towards farming.
 
The website for the virtaul 2020 Crop Diagnostic School is now live at www.mbcropdiagnosticschool.ca. The virtual school opens July 7th and is live until August 7th, 2020. The school classrooms and interactive content is password protected, for our students.
 
Cost: $100 earlybird (to June 26, 2020) and $125 regular (June 27th to August 1st). Once payment is received, the password for the student will be provided to them to join the school.
 
The 2020 school focuses on six areas to test and improve diagnostic skills. Focus areas are Weed Management, Crop Nutrition/Soil Health, Entomology, Crop Pathology, Cereal Management and Pulse Management. Each classroom will contain pre-taped lessons, that range from 5 to 15 minutes, for a total of 50 minutes of instruction to present and explain specific issues, concepts behind successful diagnosis. Complimentary to the videos, there will be a discussion board for each focus area to ask further questions, which is monitored by the insructors. For increased interaction, there is the opportunity to join a weekly video/teleconference with specialists to ask questions.
 
 
For CCA/ CCSC credits - A quiz will be provided in each of the focus sections, to assess your understanding and to collect your CEU credits.  We have applied for similar CCA credits as in past CDS events (0.5 NM, 1.0 SW, 2.5 PM and 2.0 CM)
