Manitoba Municipal Heritage Site No. 146

Melita United Church Manse
79 Ash Street,
Melita

Melita United Church Manse

Designation Date: April 28, 1997
Designation Authority: The Town of Melita
Present Owner: privately owned

The building is a good example of the kind of solid, commodious houses that were popular between 1890 and 1920. This example, from 1904, was erected by the First Methodist (later Victoria United) Church Board to provide accommodation for its clergy. Fortunately, the original porch-balcony-roof feature that makes this building so special is still intact, with the delicate woodwork in good condition. The current owners, who are devoted to preserving this important community landmark, have undertaken several structural projects that will ensure the building’s continued life.
