Thomas Poole Building
215 Elizabeth Avenue E.,
Baldur

Thomas Poole Building

Designation Date: December 12, 1997
Designation Authority: The Rural Municipality of Argyle
Present Owner: privately owned

As the village of Baldur expanded in the early twentieth century, solid brick commercial establishments replaced many of the wooden buildings on the main street. Thomas Poole, a hardware merchant, had his building constructed in 1910. A typical commercial block of its era, the former Poole Building is distinguished by fine brick details at the roof line. Today, it houses a variety of commercial spaces. The present owner has recreated the original interior colour scheme and has plans to restore the front façade to its original condition.
