While this house was built in 1908, and served various families for many years, it was the 50 years from about 1940 to 1990, when it was owned by Dr. H.A. Kaye, that it gained wide familiarity. Dr. Kaye was a medical doctor whose practice took him into the homes of almost everyone in and around Melita. The house is a good example of the type of houses constructed around the turn of the century. The broad curving porch is its most striking feature, creating a welcoming presence. Currently undergoing a major renovation, the old house is being converted into a combination tea house and bed and breakfast operation.
