Garland United Church

Designation Date: September 8, 1999
Designation Authority: R.M. of Ethelbert
Present Owner: United Church of Canada

In the early 1900s, the Presbyterian Church of Canada undertook to convert Ukrainian pioneers, and built several churches, staffed with Ukrainian adherents of the Presbyterian faith. This church, originally called St. John's Ruthenian Presbyterian Church, was built in 1916 under the direction of Mr. Wright, and is a modest version of Carpenter Gothic. In 1925 the church voted in favour of union and joined the new United Church of Canada.
