Manitoba, Fire, Wildfire
Manitoba's wildfire perimeters for the 2013 fire season. These perimeters are presented as originally mapped, without removing water bodies. This version is intended for those who wish to match the fire perimeters to their own water layer.
This is the finalized fire perimeter dataset of Manitoba's known wildfires for the 2013 fire season. It is a compilation of the best available fire perimeters, and attribute data derived from year-end wildfire reports. This is one in a set of three versions of the fire perimeters: one as originally mapped, one with intersecting water bodies removed, and one with all water bodies removed. While water bodies have not been removed from this version, their areas were taken into account to calculate the final fire sizes, using federal NHN data. Fire size is to be taken from the attribute data, not from an area calculation of the polygons.

Internal feature number.
Esri
Feature geometry.
Esri
Fire number as referenced by the Manitoba Fire Program. This is a unique identifier consisting of a two letter identifier for the region in which the fire occurred, followed by a 3 digit fire number. The regions are identified as: EA - Eastern, CE - Central, WE - Western, NE - Northeast, NW - Northwest
Manitoba Fire Program
Unique fire number consisting of a 3 digit district identifier, and a 3 digit regional fire number.
Manitoba Fire Program
Latitude of the fire detection location, in degrees minutes seconds.
Manitoba Fire Program
Longitude of the fire detection location, in degrees minutes seconds. Values are assumed to be west of the prime meridian.
Manitoba Fire Program
Latitude of the fire detection location, in decimal degrees.
Manitoba Fire Program
Longitude of the fire detection location, in decimal degrees.
Manitoba Fire Program
Fire Priority Zone in which the fire occurred.
Manitoba Fire Program
Level of suppression action taken against the fire.
Manitoba Fire Program
Ignition date

Extinguished date
Manitoba Fire Program
General Activity; the general cause of the fire.
Manitoba Fire Program
Simplified fire cause, human or lightning.
Manitoba Fire Program
Final fire size, in hectares. Note: This value may differ from a calculated polygon area. The area of water bodies are subtracted from fires mapped by GPS or satellite, using the National Hydro Network (NHN) water dataset, Regional fire staff may also enter a fire size which differs from the mapped area.
Manitoba Fire Program
Mapsource describes the means used to identify the burn. The attribute values generally mirror those used by the Canadian Forest Service, with some minor deviation for the sake of clarity.
Manitoba Fire Program
Method by which the fire perimeter was captured or generated.
