Manitoba's wildfire perimeters for the 2018 fire season, with all water bodies removed (based on the 1:50,000 CanVec hydrology data for permanent water bodies).
This is the finalized fire perimeter data set of Manitoba's known wildfires for the 2018 fire season. It is a compilation of the best available fire perimeters and attribute data derived from year-end wildfire reports. This is one in a set of two versions of the fire perimeters: one as originally mapped, and one with all water bodies removed. All water bodies have been removed from this version of the data set (based on the 1:50,000 CanVec hydrology data for permanent water bodies). Fire size is to be taken from the attribute data, not from an area calculation of the polygons.

Internal feature number.
Esri
Feature geometry.
Esri
Unique ID assigned to each fire. The first 2 characters identify the province (MB), the following 4 characters identify the year, and the last 5 characters are a unique identifier consisting of a two letter identifier for the region in which the fire occurred, followed by a 3 digit fire number. The regions are identified as: EA - Eastern, CE - Central, WE - Western, NE - Northeast, NW - Northwest.
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre
Unique ID assigned to each fire polygon, to satisfy CIFFC National reporting standards. As the geometry is multipolygon, the fireid values are identical to the agencyid.
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre
The type of fire perimeter, whether Interim, Final or Modeled.
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre
Refers to what was used to identify and map the perimeter. This attribute, together with creatmethd (which describes how the fire perimeter was created), provides insight into data quality and accuracy.
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre
Provides additional information regarding the datasource field.
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre
Creation Method, describing how the fire polygon was created.
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre
Indicates whether water areas inside the fire perimeter were removed from the polygon as presented in this data set. This relates only to the polygon shape, not the fire size which always takes water into account.
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre
Indicates whether unburned areas inside the fire perimeter were removed (if applicable).
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre
Provides additional information related to the collection of the polygon data.
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre
Latitude of the fire detection location, in degrees minutes seconds.
Manitoba Wildfire Program
Longitude of the fire detection location, in degrees minutes seconds.
Manitoba Wildfire Program
Latitude of the fire detection location, in decimal degrees.
Manitoba Wildfire Program
Longitude of the fire detection location, in decimal degrees.
Manitoba Wildfire Program
Fire Priority Zone in which the fire occurred.
Manitoba Wildfire Program
Response type, a category indicating the response to the fire, whether full, modified, or monitored.
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre
Ignition date. Known or suspected date on which the fire ignited.
Manitoba Wildfire Program
Reported date. Date on which the fire was reported.
Manitoba Wildfire Program
Extinguished date. Date on which the fire was declared extinguished.
Manitoba Wildfire Program
General Activity; the general cause of the fire.
Manitoba Wildfire Program
Final fire size, in hectares. This is the final size as entered by staff.
Manitoba Wildfire Program
The UTC datetime that the fire perimeter was collected by the identified datasource.
Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre
The UTC datetime for which the fire perimeter is applicable.
