Program Overview


The $35 million Caregiver Wage Support Program provides a $5 per hour wage supplement to eligible front-line workers that provide direct patient or residential care to vulnerable Manitobans, between November 1, 2020 and January 10, 2021.

Sample Claim

An employee that worked for 125 hours in an eligible position between November 1, 2020 to December 6, 2020:

If the same person wants to claim hours worked from December 7, 2020 and January 10, 2020, they would need to submit a new claim for application intake 2 January 11, 2021 to January 18, 2021.

Following the closing of Application Intake 2, approved claimants will receive payment by January 25, 2020.

Common Questions and Answers


Your seven-digit application confirmation number starting with a 13XXXXX can be found in one of three ways:

  1. The number was provided to you upon completing the Intake 1 application form, with the option to print or email to yourself;
  2. The remittance slip emailed to you upon completing your electronic deposit will contain your seven-digit Application Confirmation number under the “Invoice No. and Detail” column, and lastly,
  3. The Application Confirmation number was provided to you in the payment notification email that was sent to you between the dates of December 21, 2020 - January 8, 2021.

Please complete a thorough search of your email folders for your confirmation number. This may include your in/out; junk; spam; deleted items folders.


The program will accept applications in the following intake periods;

    • Application Intake 1: December 7, 2020 to December 14, 2020
      • applicants will be required to report the number of eligible hours worked for the period of November 1, 2020 - December 6, 2020
    • Application Intake 2: January 11, 2021 - January 18, 2021
      • applicants will be required to report the number of eligible hours worked for the period of December 7, 2020 - January 10, 2021.

This means that the application form for the first intake period will be made available through this website on December 7, 2020. The application form for the second intake period will be made available through this website on January 11, 2021.


Approved applicants will receive payment five business days following the closing of the intake windows.


Under CWSP, applicants will receive $5 for every hour worked, including overtime hours, between November 1, 2020 to January 10, 2021.

You regular hourly rate must be $25 or less per hour.


No. Individuals that want to apply for this program must submit a claim (apply) during the intake windows described in the Application Process section of this website.


No. This program is targeted to eligible workers that provide direct care in one or more of the following facilities:

  • Child and Family Services Group Home
  • Community Living disABILITY Services shift-staffed group home
  • Emergency Placement Resources shelters
  • Family violence prevention shelters
  • Homeless shelters
  • Personal care homes
  • Retirement residences
  • Supportive housing residences

To be eligible for the CWSP, you must work in one of the facilities listed in the program description and work in one or more of the following positions:

    • Health care aide or equivalent
    • Housekeeping staff
    • House Supervisor
    • Direct Service Worker (CLDS, CFS, FVPP and Shelters)
    • Youth Care Worker/ Practitioner
    • Recreation Worker
    • Rehabilitation Worker

The following positions are not eligible for the Caregiver Wage Support Program: Dietary aides, nutritional aides, kitchen staff, maintenance staff, home care workers, reception, administration or clerical staff.

  • Ensure to include your Application Confirmation Number from either Intake 1 or Intake 2 and your name in the email.
  • The program office will send you a reimbursement form and instructions on how to repay the funds.
