6.15.1 Legal Aid
Policy
Section 8(1) of The Manitoba Assistance Act provides for assistance for legal aid in civil matters Section 8(2) of the Act further states that this class of assistance is additional to and separate from "Income Supplements". Accordingly, the cost of legal services is not taken into account in determining either eligibility for assistance or the extent of such eligibility.
Applicants or participants who inquire about financial assistance for legal aid services should be referred to Legal Aid Manitoba for information.
