Consultation on Bereavement Legislation

In May 2019, the Manitoba government announced it would launch public consultations on bereavement legislation to ensure it is responsive to the needs of Manitobans.

As noted in last November's Speech from the Throne, the review will look at The Funeral Directors and Embalmers Act, The Cemeteries Act and The Prearranged Funeral Services Act.

Feedback will help government identify opportunities to harmonize existing legislation, strengthen consumer protections, reduce red tape and provide a fiscally responsible framework for sustainable regulation.

Manitobans can choose to participate either through a survey or by attending an in-person session.

TO PARTICIPATE BY COMPLETING A SURVEY:

Download the questionnaire and email your feedback to funeralboard@gov.mb.ca or mail it to:

  Attention: Bereavement Legislation Consultation

Completed questionnaires will be accepted until Fall 2019.

TO PARTICIPATE BY ATTENDING AN IN-PERSON SESSION:
