Diagnostic Services

Diagnostic services include examinations such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) scans and ultrasounds. Diagnostic services are primarily used to help health care providers detect a problem, and diagnose disease or injury. Diagnostic services can also be used to determine how well treatments are working, or to measure results over time.

You may be able to have the test in the location of your choice. Talk to your doctor to see if this is an option for you.

The methodology for calculating monthly wait times uses retrospective medians, except for myocardial perfusion where prospective estimates are used. Wait times calculated using the two different methodologies are not comparable.

As planned improvements in information systems for diagnostic services are implemented, diagnostic wait times will be standardized with other program areas.
