Details:

Ruth Hooker already has a strong Waste Reduction Program at the school.  There are over 40 students in grades 3 to 6 that participate daily on this team.

There is daily recycling in every room of the school and school yard clean up on a daily basis as well.  Each week recycling bins and equipment bins are washed and the Large Big Blue recycling bins are put out by the curb for weekly pickup.

The students participated in the "Plastic Bag" collection this fall for the first time. We are also a part of the “Terracycle Program”, and have offered "Walk to School Days" throughout the year for our parents and community members which has culminated with a whole school Healthy breakfast in the gym.

We are now in the process of planning our June 6th "Clean Air Day" event with a Walk to School event, Buddy reading & cleaning and a Poster Contest.

The Eco Club and students committed to an "Environmentally Healthy School" is growing every year. The students are serious and dedicated to the program.
