Urban Native Non-Profit Housing

Description This program targets Aboriginal elderly persons, individuals with disabilities, and families with low to moderate incomes living in urban communities.  The program assists Urban Native Non-Profit Organizations to own and to provide subsidized rental housing that is suitable and adequate in the private market.

Coverage Individual operating agreements between Manitoba Housing and Urban Native Non-Profit Organizations allows to provide subsidized rental housing to households as listed below:
  1. Rent-Geared-To-Income Scale -

    The social housing rent-geared to-income (RGI) rate is 30 per cent on lease agreements for new households.

    Effective November 1, 2018, the social housing rent-geared to-income (RGI) is 30 per cent for existing tenant lease renewals.

    OR

  2. Employment and Income Assistance participants are charged a fixed monthly shelter rate.
  3. OR

  4. The Rent Supplement Program is limited under this program.

Eligibility Applicants for housing assisted under this program will be selected on the basis of being financially unable to obtain affordable, suitable and adequate housing.

Applicants’ Program Income Limits determine client eligibility.

Applying A variety of housing options for Aboriginal elderly persons, individuals with disabilities, and families is dependent on the availability of housing at time of application.  Contact the Urban Native Private Non-Profit Organization directly as they accept applications for rental housing.  Manitoba Housing does not accept housing applications under this program.  Each Urban Native Non-Profit Organization directly accepts applications for rental housing in urban communities.
