Synopsis of Manitoba's Oil Lease Sale

The results of competitive bidding on August 15, 2007 for Crown oil and gas rights which was offered by the Department of Science, Technology, Energy and Mines, resulted in a total of $188,462.52 being added to provincial revenue.

All of the twenty-nine lease parcels offered, covering 4,242.66 hectares (10,483.61 acres) were sold for a bonus amount totaling $152,334.90. The average price per hectare for lease parcels sold was $21.74 ($8.80 per acre). The average bonus at the last sale held on May 16, 2007 was $106.28 ($43.01 per acre).

EOG Resources Canada Inc., paid the highest price per hectare for a parcel located in the Waskada area. The firm paid $321.55 per hectare ($130.13 per acre) as a tender bonus.

This is the third of four sales scheduled for 2007. The next sale will be held on November 14, 2007. The deadline for posting requests is November 16, 2007.

Four sales are scheduled for 2007; February 14, May 16, August 15 and November 14.
