Economic Growth Action Plan
Targeting Jobs and Growth with the Manitoba Works Plan
In December 2018, Manitoba launched a new Economic Growth Action Plan. It envisions a nimble approach to economic development and a collaborative relationship between government and the private sector.
The initial phase of the plan established the structures to support a Team Manitoba approach to economic growth, and has launched strategies for tourism, culture and agri-food industries. A Skills, Talent and Knowledge Strategy is coming soon.
With its goal of creating 40,000 jobs over four years, Manitoba Works is tightly tied to the Economic Growth Action Plan. Manitoba Works aims to build on our strengths to grow trade, investment and job creation, and to ensure that policies in areas like permitting, infrastructure investment and regulatory reform align with the Economic Growth Action Plan.
Team Manitoba, consisting of the new Economic Development Office and the province’s strategic and regional partners, will work to advance key Manitoba Works priorities, including:
- attracting new investment to the province
- accelerating talent acquisition and business expansion by fast-tracking the development of Manitoba's skills, knowledge and talent strategy; and
- expanding export markets with a targeted new trade strategy.
