PayWorks CEO Barb Gamey and Johnston Group President Dave Angus were appointed to lead an engagement process to create a modern approach to economic growth in Manitoba. They began extensive stakeholder consultations in April 2018.

Over the course of several months, the co-chairs consulted with over 500 representatives of business, industry, economic development organizations, academia and Indigenous organizations.

The resulting report, Growing Manitoba's Economy, articulates themes important to all sectors of the economy that must underpin economic development initiatives. The report identifies eleven drivers of growth and makes recommendations for action in seven key areas: workforce, inclusiveness, sector competitiveness, trade, research and innovation, capital and governance.

Manitoba's Economic Growth Action Plan is responding to these recommendations through actions in the short, medium and long-term. We are starting with bold changes to the structures that govern and deliver economic development programs in Manitoba.
