About Us

Corrections Division (Corrections) is the largest division of Manitoba Justice. It enforces court orders and sentences for offenders who are in custody or on probation.

Our goal is to manage offenders with the appropriate degree of control, supervision and support. We provide programs and services to help offenders deal with the issues that cause conflict with the law. We provide humane care and control of offenders and help them return to society.

Our core values are:

  • Respect – We accept diversity and the unconditional worth and rights of all people.
  • Accountability – We openly communicate and manage our services, evaluate what we are doing and take responsibility for the results.
  • Growth and development – We believe every person has the potential for growth and development and we will provide opportunities and support for change.
  • Recognition – We believe our strongest, most important resource is our staff. They are most effective when working in a safe, challenging, rewarding environment.
  • Working together – We provide integrated services and work with individuals, communities and organizations to create a safe, crime-free society.

Corrections has two sections: Adult Correctional Services and Youth Correctional Services. We manage six adult correctional facilities and two youth facilities. We have 27 community corrections offices to supervise probation and conditional sentences for adult and youth offenders.
