About the Non-profit Strategy

The Manitoba government is developing a new strategy to build capacity and promote sustainability in the non-profit sector. This strategy will guide future provincial investments and inform the ongoing relationship between government and the sector. The new strategy will strengthen the non-profit sector, assisting individual organizations across Manitoba to be sustainable and successful. It will help ensure Manitoba's non-profit sector is best poised to deliver positive outcomes and increase philanthropy and charitable giving.

For more information, please see the following discussion paper: Building Capacity and Promoting Sustainability in Manitoba's Non-profit Sector.

Public Engagement

The government of Manitoba is engaging in public consultation on how we can build on best practices and develop innovative programs, processes and supports that strengthen capacity, increase sustainability and leverage partnerships across the province to improve outcomes.

Community Engagement

The public engagement process began with a Community Forum in Winnipeg on May 9, 2019. This forum featured speakers from the non-profit sector in Manitoba and across Canada. Click here to watch videos of the speakers at the forum.

Two more community forums took place in fall 2019 in Thompson and Brandon. The government also conducted an online survey that was open to all Manitobans who have interacted with the non-profit sector within the last five years as employees, volunteers, donors, or service recipients.

We are pleased to share some of what we have learned from stakeholders in our summary report: Renewing Manitoba's Non-profit Strategy: What we've heard so far.
