Notice of Environment Act Proposal

CITY OF BRANDON PROPOSAL (FILE: 4307.10)

Manitoba Conservation is in receipt of:

both having been submitted to facilitate a 2-shift per day operation of the hog processing plant. The IWWTF, located in SW1/4 16-10-18 WPM just north of the site of the hog processing plant, is presently licenced to receive the wastewater resulting from a 1-shift per day operation of the hog processing plant, and continuously releases treated and disinfected wastewater into the Assiniboine River. The proposed alterations to the IWWTF address the need to adequately treat and disinfect the increased volumes of wastewater, and include nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) removal technologies to limit the quantities of N & P to be released into the river.

A public hearing of the Clean Environment Commission will be held to consider the Proposal, and a Participant Assistance Program will be established for the hearing.

Anyone likely to be affected by the above operations and who wishes to make a representation either for or against the proposals should contact the Department, in writing or by E-mail (cmoche@gov.mb.ca), not later than APRIL 21, 2003. Further information is available from the Public Registries located at 123 Main St. (Union Station) Main Floor, Winnipeg; the Centennial Public Library, 251 Donald St., Winnipeg; the Manitoba Eco-Network, 2nd Floor, 70 Albert St., Winnipeg; the Portage la Prairie City Library, 40-B Royal Rd.
