Caravan to the Hogsback
September 9, 2018
1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Starting Location: Kiche Manitou Day Use Parking Lot.
Discover the hidden gems and overlooked beauty of the park on this unique backcountry adventure! We’ll make stops along the way to explore the Assiniboine Valley, mixed-grass prairie and stands of spruce and aspen forest. Our destination is the Hogsback, a unique bowl-shaped valley of sand with a razor thin ridge.  Be sure to bring your camera, drinking water and sturdy walking shoes for a 1 km hike at the Hogsback. 
Rides are available, however spaces are limited. You are welcome to drive your own vehicle for this 35 km round trip (an SUV or pickup truck is recommended for these backcountry roads).

Spirit Sands Guided Hike

10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Experience the iconic sand dunes of Spruce Woods! Discover the Indigenous cultural connection to these sacred sands and explore this fragile ecosystem’s geology, flora and fauna with a Park Interpreter. Be sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring drinking water for this 3 km round trip.
Meet at the Spirit Sands trailhead. Registration not required.

Haunted Park after Dark
October 6, 2018
6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Join us at the Spruce Woods Park Centre for this spooky night of fun discovering the park after dark. Come dressed in your best costume!  Free family fun activities include a guided night hike with a Park Interpreter, stargazing, crafts and a haunted museum. 
Horse-drawn wagon rides will be available for $6/adult, $3/child. The Friends of Spruce Woods will be operating a canteen with drinks and snacks to purchase.  Registration not required.
