Gerald W. Malaher WMA, just outside Melita, includes a walking trail and the trailhead the Manitoba Grasslands Birding Trail. Before you head out on the Birding Trail, take a stroll through the WMA along the Dust to Diversity Trail where interpretive signs describe how this parcel of land was turned into wind blown sand during the 1930s by early attempts at farming, and how it was returned to permanent cover by conservationists.

From Melita, drive west on Provincial Road (PR) 445 to Road 158W and turn north/right, the parking lot is the first driveway on the east/right side of the road.
