Only 3.7 percent of Canadians donate blood.
The number one reason most Canadians don't give blood is "nobody asked them" - We are asking.
1 in 2 Canadians are eligible to donate blood, but only 1 in 60 actually do.
On average, Manitoba only has a 4-day blood supply.
Every minute of every day, someone in Canada needs blood.
52 per cent of Canadians say they, or a family member, have needed blood or blood products for surgery or, for medical treatment.
Our smallest donor group are those individuals 25 - 50 years of age.
Separating blood into its various components allows a single unit of blood to benefit several patients and provides a patient only the blood component which is needed. About 97% of the blood collected in high-income countries, like Canada, is separated into blood components!

In honour of the WHO's World Blood Donor day on June 14, 2015, we encourage you to join your fellow public servants in giving the gift of life.

If you have never given blood before, please take this opportunity to consider stepping forward and roll up your sleeve to donate during national public service week. New donors are urgently needed.

Blood donations are encouraged throughout the month of June, while additional shuttles are available throughout National Public Service Week on the dates below. To reserve your seat, contact the volunteer listed next to the date and location of your preference.

Don't forget! Regular donors and shuttle users that are scheduled in June, but not during National Public Service Week, will still be counted in the final results so make sure you identify yourself as a government employee and record the name of your department when you donate. The department with the highest percentage of donors wins bragging rights for the year!

Donations can be made at the following main locations: 777 William Avenue in Winnipeg and 800 Rosser Avenue in Brandon. Please identify yourself if you are a government employee and your department to make your donation count.
