Trades Examinations, Certification and Licensing

Inspection and Technical Services (ITS) is responsible for the examination, certification, and licensing of individuals performing regulated work—such as installation, maintenance, or alteration, etc. for various equipment, devices, or systems.

ITS issues the following licences and certificates:

Power Engineer Certificates and Licences
(This now also includes the newly introduced Ice Facility Operator Class Certificate.)
Journeyperson Electrician Licences
Limited Specialized Trade Electricians’ Licences
Gas and Oil Installer Licences
Pressure Welding Licences

Licence Renewal

Licence renewal notices are sent by mail via Canada Post. If your licence has expired or you didn't receive a renewal notice, please download and complete the ITS CS Form 14 - Licence Renewal Form from the Bulletins, Guides & Forms page, then submit it as instructed.

The Online Payment Form is available at https://forms.gov.mb.ca/itsop/.

Examination Syllabus

Provincial Examination syllabi, including the new Ice Facility Operator syllabus, are available on the Bulletins, Guides & Forms page. See ITS CS Guides 1 - 11.

1^st - 5^th Class, Refrigeration Operator, Special Steam Powered Traction Engine Operator Syllabi are available on the SOPEEC website.

Apply for an Exam/Testing

Complete and submit the Examination application form related to your industry which are available on the Bulletins, Guides & Forms page. See ITS 21-038 for additional application requirements. Proof of prior experience or education may be required in order to be eligible. Include all necessary documentation to avoid delays in processing.

Apply for a Licence

You may apply for a licence or certificate when you:

have received a passing mark on an exam administered by ITS
have successfully completed pressure welding performance qualification testing at a recognized test facility
have successfully completed a program recognized by ITS
are seeking recognition from another jurisdiction
are requesting to reinstate a previously held licence or certificate

Payment Methods

Accepted payment methods include: credit card, cheque and money orders.

Credit Card Payment sent by mail.
