Our environment – the ecosystem we share with one another and with all plant and animal life in Manitoba – is strong and healthy, but it is not indestructible. About 28 per cent of Canada’s human-caused greenhouse gas emissions come from activities of individual Canadians – about six tonnes per person per year.
Many of the activities we take for granted produce greenhouse gasses. If we are to preserve our ecosystem for our selves and for future generations, Manitobans must become stewards of the environment.
If all of make relatively small changes at home, at work and on the road, we can dramatically cut greenhouse gas emissions. No matter where we live, work, play or learn, there are steps we can take to protect our environment – you’ll find many ideas on this page. It is up to each one of us. If you haven’t already started, today is a good time to begin.
