Disability and Health Supports Unit

Individuals involved with the Employment and Income Assistance Program, the Children’s disABILITY Services Program and the Community Living disABILITY Services Program may require additional support for health related supplies, equipment, nutritional or diet supplements based on a diagnosed medical need.

The Disability and Health Supports Unit (DHSU) offers a streamlined, one-stop-shop to help eligible clients access these disability and health-related supports in a consistent, fair and efficient manner.

The DHSU reviews and assesses all requests submitted by health professionals on behalf of Employment and Income Assistance, Children’s disABILITY Services and Community Living disABILITY Services program participants. Each program’s medical supply and equipment policies and legislation (where applicable) are followed by the DHSU when assessing and approving requests. When approved, the DHSU will arrange to have the Province of Manitoba’s Materials Distribution Agency deliver these products to clients.

If you are a health professional wishing to request supplies or equipment on behalf of an Employment and Income Assistance, Children’s disABILITY Services, or Community Living disABILITY Services client, you can access online request forms here.

If you are an Employment and Income Assistance, Children’s disABILITY Services, or Community Living disABILITY Services program participant and have questions regarding the supports available, please contact your assigned case worker for further information or e-mail disandhealthsupports@gov.mb.ca.
