Balmoral Hall School (BH) is located on a 12-acre riverfront campus in an urban setting.  The campus and residence buildings are located within walking distance of shopping, restaurants and theatres.

Health Insurance Requirement:
Mandatory for all boarding students.  Cost of insurance is included international tuition fee and is arranged by the school.

2014/2015 boarding students are from Canada, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, Russia, United States, Costa Rica.

Study Periods:
School Year - September to June.

Balmoral Hall School accepts applications on a continual basis throughout the school year. Late applicants for the current school year may be accepted depending upon space availability.

Balmoral Hall School founded in 1901, is a university preparatory school, inspires girls to excel, to reach, to lead. Located in the heart of Winnipeg, (Manitoba, Canada), Balmoral Hall was founded in 1901 to offer comprehensive all-girls education. A nondenominational independent day and boarding school for girls aged 2 to Grade 12, Balmoral Hall welcomes students from around the world, encouraging them to discover their passions in academics, athletics, and the arts. At Balmoral Hall, girls find a place of belonging through a shared love of learning.

Balmoral Hall School offers one of the finest educations in Canada. As a university preparatory school, we are committed to helping our students prepare for the university of their choice, with a solid background in university-entrance as well as Pre-Advanced and Advanced Placement courses. Our educational philosophy includes a caring and individualized approach incorporated into a structured school setting. Considerable importance is placed on developing each student's maximum potential using small class sizes with the finest faculty employing the best teaching practices for girls.

Balmoral Hall is a designated testing site for SAT and ACT exams. We will also offer an intensive prep course for all of our students to learn techniques and strategies that will enable them to score the highest mark possible.  Our university guidance beings in grade 8 and as a result on average all of our graduates receive offers of admission to universities of their choice with more than 80% receiving academic scholarships.

Middle School Curriculum (Grades 6 - 8):
The Middle School welcomes students from Grades 6, 7 and 8. This is a special time. The girls' lives are filled with developmental changes and new academic challenges. Our Middle School helps girls extend their knowledge of essential skills as they develop a sense of identity and become aware of their abilities and interests. Our academic program, athletics and the arts promote artistic and academic excellence.

In today's demanding world, our girls need an internationally relevant education in order to become true global citizens. Our Capstone Program beginning in Grade 6 deepens and extends our emphasis on lifelong learning and service that is central to the goals and philosophy of Balmoral Hall School.

Personalized university guidance begins in Grade 8.

Senior School Curriculum (Grades 9 -12):
At BH we provide our senior students with a comprehensive program of studies that facilitates the achievement of individual potential, and inspires a love of learning.  Our academic requirements encourage each student to design a rigorous program compatible with her abilities, interests and goals.

Students continue to achieve their personal best in a challenging curriculum with leadership and experiential educational opportunities that provide our graduates with worldwide access to the most prestigious universities and educational institutions.  In addition to our Capstone Program we offer Advanced Placment (AP) courses in Grades 11 and 12. Balmoral Hall School's all girls environment promotes competence, confidence and connectedness. Our graduates are strong, independent women who have worked hard, formed lasting friendships and learned to care about the broader world. 

Students begin earning credits in Grade 9 towards a Manitoba high school graduation diploma for which a minimum of 30 credits is required.  University counseling and academic support are also provided for each girl as she approaches university admission.

English as an Additional Language Program (EAL):
Balmoral Hall School's EAL Program provides instruction for students whose first language is not English.. Students will have their English language skills assessed prior to admission, using Canadian Achievement Test. Dependent upon the assessment, an individualized program will be developed to meet their specific needs.

Note: All students who have previously studied in a non-English speaking country will be placed in the English as an Additional Language Program for the first year of study at Balmoral Hall School.

University Guidance:
Offering an exceptional university preparatory education for girls is at the heart of everything we do. Personalized university preparation, including alumnae mentorship, begins in grade 8. With the support of dedicated faculty, our graduates make confident choices about their futures, attending universities of choice across Canada, the United States, and Europe. Accordingly, they have a high undergraduate completion rate. Many alumnae pursue professional, graduate and post-graduate studies, as well.

Focus is on developing each student's maximum potential using small class sizes with the finest faculty. Intensive university guidance and ESL preparation ensures all grads attend the university of their choice. The boarding program supports a residential curriculum focused on developing a healthy lifestyle. Daily after school and weekend activities are planned that nurture mental and physical fitness with all students involved in programs such as dance, sport, music and art as individuals or in groups. The on-campus residence is in the final stages of a multi-million dollar renovation and ready to be the perfect home away from home for all boarders arriving in September 2015.

Residence Life:
Encouraging students to discover a healthy balance in their lives, we foster a supportive, active boarding environment based on mutual respect. A dedicated team works closely with boarders to promote participation in the residence curriculum, developing life skills, independence and confidence as they prepare for university and beyond.

Weekly after-school schedules ensure that ample time exists for studies as well as private lessons in dance, voice, musical instruments, diving, gymnastics, equestrian and more. Additionally, all boarding are members of the Winnipeg Winter club with daily access to private lessons, including tennis, badminton, skating and swimming. Weekends provide many opportunities for expanding cultural awareness and healthy lifestyles with teambuilding activities that facilitate connections with Canadian day students.  Saturdays ensure students have time for extra tutoring in addition to to university guidance and language study with special classes in SAT, ACT, and IELTS preparation.

With so many educational, athletic and cultural opportunities available, residence life undoubtedly offers an exceptional experience.

Academic fees cover tuition including academic program, textbooks, novels, school agendas, portfolio binders, athletic and sports fees and school publications. English as an Additional Language (EAL), English Second Language (ESL), English Language Learning (ELL) and/or curriculum support are included as needed.

Residence fees also include meals, accommodations and boarding, transportation to and from airport and school-related or extra-curricular activities, membership to the Winnipeg Winter Club (recreation, sport and fitness facility only) and the non-Manitoba residence surcharge.
