Institutional Profile

The Pembina Trails School Division's International Student Program represents longest-running and one of the largest international programs in Manitoba for primary and secondary-aged students. The ‘university district’ of Winnipeg is located within Pembina Trails School Division. Many of our schools and Homestay families live within walking distance of the University of Manitoba.

One of our greatest strengths is the service that we provide to our international students. From beginning to end, we work hard at insuring that our international students have a memorable study abroad experience. This service includes, but is not limited to program and school orientations; strong ESL support in our schools; cultural excursions throughout the year (we employ a full time ‘Activities Facilitator’);  Homestays that are carefully screened by our program and cleared by Criminal Records and Child Abuse Registry Checks;  24/7 support from our Homestay Department; and assistance with medical issues.

Our high schools are very strong in terms of academics. They are well recognized for the number of scholarships and awards received each year by graduating students. They also offer a wide variety of extra-curricular activities which our international students are welcome to join. Some schools offer an International Club that provides our international students with a unique opportunity to network with Canadian students. Our number one priority is to ensure that all of our students are successful and that they have a rich, valuable and safe experience in their study abroad programs.
