Manitoba Bike Helmet Safety Course

On May 1st, 2013 a law took effect in Manitoba that mandates the use of bicycle helmets for cyclists under the age of 18. If you are under 18, and not wearing a bike helmet while cycling, or are a parent or guardian of someone under 18 that is not wearing a bike helmet while cycling, you can be ticketed under the Highway Traffic Act.

This law also provides an alternative to paying a fine, for cyclists who have received their first ticket for not wearing a helmet. They can take the Manitoba Bike Helmet Safety Course and have their fine dismissed. We encourage parents & their children to both take part in this educational opportunity.

Please note that the online version of the Bike Helmet Safety Course is currently unavailable. In order to have your fine waived, if this is your first offence, you can do so by completing the paper-based version of the Bike Helmet Safety Course. The document below provides more information on how to complete and mail in your completed course.
