The Office of the Manitoba Fairness Commissioner works collaboratively with regulators to strengthen our ability to assess international qualifications, and thus the fairness of the registration process.

We share a common goal to see all qualified immigrants recognized. The Office is committed to providing expertise, resources and support to help realize this goal. Our preliminary plans include:

• Answer regulators' questions about the Act
• Consult with regulators and document their existing assessment and registration processes
• Identify areas for improvement
• Set an action plan
• Support the work needed to meet requirements of the Act and best practices for qualifications recognition

Fair registration practices are separate and distinct from standards of professional practice. Regulators alone are best able to set and maintain standards of professional practice to ensure applicants are qualified to practice safely, competently and ethically.
