Child and Family Services Contacts
A Designated Intake Agency (DIA) is a mandated CFS agency that handles CFS intakes in a specific region of the province (see the DIA map here).
DIAs operate on behalf of all four CFS Authorities in their region. They assess the need for immediate and ongoing CFS involvement with children and families.
DIAs provide 24 hour intake and emergency services and respond to all referrals or requests for service on a timely basis. In addition, once intake and emergency services are provided, the DIA is responsible for determining if there is a need for ongoing services. If there is, the child/family are referred to an ongoing service agency.
