Filing a Complaint with the Consumer Protection Office

Information required when filing a complaint

Be concise and describe:

  • The transaction
    Ex. "I signed a contract with a door-to-door seller from ABC Business..."
    "I purchased a new/used vehicle from ABC Dealer..."
  • Date of transaction
  • What the problem is
  • When the problem arose
  • What was the business's response to the problem and who was spoken to
  • What you are seeking to resolve the complaint

Provide copies of relevant documents such as:

  • Bill of sale/invoice
  • Contract(s)/financing agreements, advertisement
  • Receipts/proof of payment
  • Warranties applicable
  • Correspondence or documentation relating to the problem
  • Consent forms that can be obtained from the Consumer Protection Office

Also provide:

  • Consumer's name, address and daytime telephone number
