Myers House
(The Castle)
Minnedosa

Myer's House

Designation Date: August 18, 1986
Designation Authority: The Town of Minnedosa
Present Owner: privately owned

Constructed in 1901 for Judge Robert Hill Myers, this is an exquisite piece of work, one of the most ambitious house designs carried out in a modestly-sized community. Robert Hill had arrived in Brandon in 1881 (from Ontario) and made his way up to Minnedosa before the turn of the century. The house was originally called "Tilson Place" (the name is still visible in the cornerstone) and was later called "The Castle," as it is today. The building was used for many years as a rooming house. Major renovations, and a fine restoration, in 1992 converted the house to its new life as a bed and breakfast operation.
