Parish of the Ascension
It's small, it's unadorned, and it's typical of the nature of the religious architecture of many Manitoba churches. Only the little cross at the top of the gable-end suggests its religious purpose, although the adjacent bell tower also helps to define the site's sacred nature. The church is nevertheless a profound example of the deep faith that many pioneers—no matter what their religious affiliation—brought to their new homeland. The Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church of the Ascension, built in 1940, is a powerful reminder of hardships accepted and of faith rewarded.
