Fannystelle’s Sacré-Coeur is one of the finest rural churches erected by the Roman Catholic Church in Manitoba. Built in 1913, the design recalls Québec precedents with their broad façades and corner towers. It is in the Romanesque Revival style of architecture, which is characterized by the use of the round arch for openings and details. The asymmetrical composition of the steeples was a favourite design used by several Roman Catholic congregations in southern Manitoba. Of those that survive, Fannystelle is an outstanding example.
