Ukrainian People’s Home of Ivan Franko
Designation Date: March 18, 1992
Designation Authority: The R.M. of Silver Creek
Present Owner: Ukrainian People’s Home of Ivan Franko

The Ukrainian People’s Home of Ivan Franko is one of only a few social halls built in Manitoba by Ukrainian National Home societies that feature ‘banyas’ or onion domes as part of the design. These domes are a significant heritage symbol, one more commonly found in church architecture. The virtually intact Angusville hall, named after an important Ukrainian poet, is an otherwise simple structure that emphasizes function over ornamentation. Its facilities support a wide range of social and cultural activities intended to foster and showcase the vitality, cohesiveness and civic pride of the area’s Ukrainian community.
