(Cadurcis House)
Minnedosa and District Heritage Village,
Minnedosa

Sprague House

Designation Date: March 16, 1999
Designation Authority: Town of Minnedosa
Present Owner: Minnedosa and District Heritage Village

The rich rolling farmland around Minnedosa was settled in the 1880s, and fine farmsteads were quickly added to the landscape. This farmhouse, originally located about 20 kilometres west of Minnedosa, was built around 1910 by W. Sprague, an American settler who moved back to United States after about a year. The house then served as home for other families, notably the Dickies and the Thierys. The design of the house is impressive, with a fine broad porch. The house, which is named Cadurcis for the school district in which it was located, was moved to the museum site where it is being restored inside and out.
