Yates House
431 - 16th Street,
Brandon

Yates House

Designation Date: May 22, 2001
Designation Authority: City of Brandon
Present Owner: privately owned

Built in 1914 for James Yates, owner of the largest plumbing business in Brandon at the time, this house is an excellent example of a new architectural style making inroads to the Wheat City at that time: the Bungalow Style. This house is a fine example, with its low-pitched roof, broad open verandah and exposed structural members. The house has had several owners over the years, the most recent who have undertaken to restore both the interior and the exterior to their former glory.
