Trailblazers of the First 100 Years
A special project undertaken by the Education & Outreach Program was unveiled on August 21, 2018 to honour Manitoba Legislative Assembly women "Trailblazers of the First 100 Years".
In the first 100 years since the passage of legislation granting women the right to vote on January 28, 1916 only 51 women have been elected to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly as MLAs and only a small number have served as Officers of the Legislative Assembly.
This permanent exhibit now honours, celebrates and uplifts the achievements of 18 women who were/are in positions traditionally held by men or who have worked to forge new pathways for women.
