Manitoba Spring Road Restrictions
Manitoba Spring Road Restrictions (SRR) are in place to protect Manitoba's surfaced pavements from undue damage by reducing allowable axle weights during the spring thawing season.
Changes to spring road restrictions for any climate zone will be communicated with a 3-day advance notice.

Winter Seasonal Weights
Winter Seasonal Weights allow for higher than normal weights on Manitoba highways and roads during the winter season when the roadbed is in a frozen condition.

Accident Reporting for Motor Carriers
Effective January 1, 2026, motor carriers are required to report accidents involving a regulated vehicle to Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI). This change to the accident reporting requirements is part of MTI’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and ensure consistency with national standards. International Roadcheck CVSA
International Roadcheck CVSA takes place on May 12, 13, and 14, 2026. Motor Carrier Enforcement Officers participate annually in this event, conducting compliance, enforcement and educational initiatives targeted at various elements of motor carrier, vehicle and driver safety.

New Safety Fitness Certificate Auto Renewal Initiative
Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure has introduced a new initiative to enhance the Safety Fitness Certificate (SFC) renewal process. Beginning October 1, 2025, eligible carriers will benefit from an automatic SFC renewal in alternating years. This change is designed to support road safety, promote fairness among carriers, and streamline administrative processes. New Manitoba Safety Fitness Certificate Requirements for U.S. Motor Carriers
Effective Sept. 1, 2025, U.S. motor carriers operating regulated vehicles in Manitoba must hold a valid Manitoba Safety Fitness Certificate OR an equivalent operating authority issued by a Canadian jurisdiction, such as an Ontario CVOR or Quebec NIR. This change to the Safety Fitness Certificate requirement is part of Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and ensure consistent compliance with provincial standards.

New Regulated Vehicles and Motor Carriers Regulation in force as of January 1, 2025
Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure advises that the Regulated Vehicles and Motor Carriers Regulation (the Regulation) came into force on January 1, 2025. The new regulation consolidates some regulated vehicle requirements and includes changes that impact regulated vehicle operations in Manitoba.
