Birds Hill Provincial Park hosted the road-race cycling and triathlon events at the 1999 Pan American Games. Since the park's paved paths and roads are ideal for cycling events, so it will host both events again at the 2017 Canada Summer Games. And, thanks to improvements made to the artificial lake, the park will also host open water swimming. Future summer campers will also be able to enjoy the larger lake and sandier shore.

Note that all events being hosted in Birds Hill Provincial Park will require event ticket holder to also purchase a seasonal or daily Manitoba Parks pass.
