Speaker: Kathy Venter

1:00-2:30 PLENARY SESSION: TIGERS THROUGH HOOPS
Speaker: Diane Wiessinger

Baby’s normal, mother’s normal, but something’s going on in that baby’s head that keeps him from breastfeeding. How can we persuade the “psycho-logical non-latcher” that he wants to breastfeed?
2:30-2:50 REFRESHMENT BREAK
2:55-4:00 BREASTFEEDING: OUR CHILDREN FOR THE HEALTH OF OUR NATION
Speaker: Stephanie MacDonald

Breastfeeding will provide healing in our communities. With the traumatic consequences of Residential Schools still being felt in our families, breastfeeding will be seen as central to helping our communities reclaim families as central to our culture. With the social determinants of health for Aboriginal Woman being the lowest in Canada, we will help women to feel their own strength, which will help raise the next generation to new heights of compassion, knowledge, and culture.
