WSH Approved Service Providers

This list includes Flagperson and Licensed Industrial Audiometric Technician (LIAT) training providers whose programs have been approved by the WSH Branch as meeting or equivalent to Manitoba requirements.

This list also includes employers who have been issued a registration number for asbestos abatement or asbestos inventory work.

Flagperson training courses are separated by agencies approved to offer province-wide training, and those approved to provide training with their own organization. The Manitoba Heavy Construction Association (MHCA) has been approved by the Workplace Safety and Health Branch to oversee and approve flagperson training programs of its membership, also found on this list.



Flagperson Training

Prior to being allowed to work as a flagperson, a worker must hold a valid flagperson training certificate, issued by a person or organization that has been approved by the director of the Workplace Safety and Health Branch (WSH), and must demonstrate competency in applying this training at the workplace.

To obtain recognition as an approved flagperson training provider in Manitoba, organizations or persons interested in providing training must complete and submit a completed Flagperson Training Checklist to the director of WSH.


Asbestos Registry

To obtain a registration number, employers must submit the Asbestos Registry form or contact Workplace Safety and Health at 204-957-7233 for approval.


Blaster Certification

A Blaster Certification is required for any person who conducts or directly controls blasting operations using explosives. Please use our Application Form for Blaster Courses, Blaster Certificate Renewals, and for upgrading Certificates.

Persons wishing to attend the Blaster Course must first complete the Application Form and send it, along with course payment.

Industrial Audiometric Technician Licences

In Manitoba, persons acting as an industrial audiometric technician under Workplace Safety and Health Regulation Part 12: Hearing Conservation and Noise Control must hold a valid licence issued by the director of Workplace Safety and Health.

The director may issue an industrial audiometric technician’s licence valid for a period of five years, or as otherwise determined. The conditions of the licence will include any ongoing training requirements.

Suspended or Revoked Licences

The director of Workplace Safety and Health may suspend or revoke an industrial audiometric technician’s licence where a licence holder has failed to meet the conditions of the licence, including training, competency and compliance with legal requirements under The Workplace Safety and Health Act and its associated regulations.

An industrial audiometric technician whose licence has been suspended or revoked will receive prompt notice from the Workplace Safety and Health Branch, and has the right to file a request for reconsideration to the director within 14 days after receiving notice.
