What is the MB Digital Wallet?
The MB Wallet is a mobile app that runs on smartphones and tablets. It is a secure wallet that can safely store digital credentials. A digital credential is proof of something about you. Proofs can include:
- Your legal name, birthdate, etc.
- The Manitoba digital health card will be the first digital credential to be offered in Manitoba, enabling residents to securely carry their health card in a digital format.
The MB Wallet is built using a different type of wallet than the Apple or Google wallets that are included on smartphones or tablets. The MB Wallet is able to securely and privately hold government issued credentials, such as health cards, identification cards, permits, etc., which can be securely and privately presented in-person or digitally over the internet to prove something about yourself. The Manitoba digital health card will be the first digital credential to be offered in Manitoba.
The MB Wallet is built with your privacy as the most important requirement, some examples include:
- The issuing party, in this case the Manitoba Government, is not aware of when you use your wallet, when you present your credentials, unless, of course, you are presenting them to a government agency to receive a service.
- The MB Wallet''s design enables you to select what data you wish to present to ensure data privacy and protection.
