Indigenous Partnership and Economic Reconciliation

The Manitoba Crown Indigenous Corporation (MCIC) has been established to support Indigenous participation, ownership and partnership in major economic projects. MCIC provides a vehicle for advancing Indigenous economic reconciliation, coordinating Manitoba's role in strategic northern infrastructure development and supporting large-scale projects that contribute to long-term economic growth, energy security, infrastructure development and shared benefits.

MCIC coordinates federal, provincial, First Nations and Red River Métis interests related to the Port of Churchill and Manitoba's northern trade corridor. It provides a structured forum for collaboration, joint planning, investment coordination and long-term shared benefit.

Indigenous engagement will support the transition from investment readiness to implementation by helping align project planning with Indigenous priorities, community benefit, environmental stewardship and clear consultation pathways. MCIC and Arctic Gateway Group (AGG) provide a platform for Indigenous participation, ownership, partnership and responsible infrastructure development, while recognizing that Crown consultations, regulatory review and project-specific engagement with affected rights holders remain essential.
