The Structures Branch is responsible for bridges and structures in the transportation and agricultural drainage network. They design, build, inspect and maintain the structures. They also carry out research, planning, programming and emergency response activities.


Structures Facts and Figures

Total number of  provincial structures on highway and water control networks:  ~  3,500

Estimated replacement value for these structures:  $9 billion

Breakdown 

Number of structures on highway network (PTHs and PRs):  2,439

Number of bridges and overpasses:   1,197

Number of large diameter culverts:  1,459

Number of overhead sign structures:   183

Number of bridges on water control network: 526
